The oast house showroom at Burham in Kent on a bright winter morning
HomeOur story

Twenty years of fires, flues and Kentish chimneys.

We started in 2004 with one van and a chimney brush. Two decades on we run a showroom in an oast house at Burham, hold 18 stove dealerships and still fit every stove with our own people.

Why we exist

A stove is one of the few things you buy for a house that you will use every single day of winter for twenty years. Get it wrong and you live with it.

Too big and it smoulders. Wrongly lined and it stains the chimney breast. Badly fitted and it is a genuine risk. We built the business around removing that risk.

One team surveys the chimney, quotes the work, supplies the stove, lines the flue, fits the hearth and comes back to sweep it. There are no subcontractors to blame and no gaps for anything to fall through.

It also means the advice can be honest. If a room does not suit a wood burner, we will say so and point you at a gas or electric fire instead, or tell you to spend the money on the chimney first.

That is the whole idea. Straight answers, one accountable team, and a fire that still draws beautifully on its thousandth evening.

The story so far

Three chapters, one trade.

An installer feeding a stainless steel flue liner down a brick chimney

Chapter I

One van and a chimney brush

We started in 2004 sweeping and lining chimneys across the Medway towns. It was quiet, physical work that taught us the single truth of this trade: the flue matters more than the fire. A beautiful stove on a bad chimney is a bad stove.

Chapter II

An oast house at Burham

The showroom moved into a Kentish oast house at Burham, between Rochester and Maidstone, and filled it with burning stoves. Customers stopped choosing from brochures and started choosing by sitting in front of the real thing on a cold day.

Chapter III

One team, start to finish

Today we hold 18 stove dealerships and every installation is still carried out by our own HETAS registered fitters. The person who surveys your chimney works for the same company as the person who signs the certificate. Nothing is handed off.

“The flue matters more than the fire. Get the chimney right and everything else follows.”

The principle we were founded on

How we work

How a job runs with us.

  1. 01

    Talk it through

Call us or visit the Burham showroom. We will ask what the room needs to do, not what you might spend.

  2. 02

    Free home survey

A surveyor measures the opening, checks the chimney and confirms ventilation, then puts everything in writing.

  3. 03

    A clear quotation

One price covering stove, liner, hearth, labour and making good. No jargon and no items added later.

  4. 04

    Installation

Our own fitters, dust sheets down, the room left clean. Most single installations are completed in a day.

  5. 05

    Handover and aftercare

We light it with you, show you how to run it well, hand over your certificate and book the first sweep.

Speak to a person

Whatever you are planning, start here.

Homeowners, builders, landlords and architects all begin the same way: a conversation. Tell us a little about the room or the project and we will come back with honest advice and one clear price in writing.

  1. 01

    We listen first

Tell us about the room or the project, not the budget. We will ask what it needs to do.

  2. 02

    We come and look

A proper survey, free of charge, with the chimney and ventilation checked before anything is quoted.

  3. 03

    One clear price

Everything in writing, stove to certificate, with nothing added later.
