Opening up a blocked fireplace, laying the hearth and setting a beam across the top is what turns an appliance into the focal point of the room.

Getting the proportions right

Hearth size is partly a matter of regulation and partly a matter of eye. Too small and the stove looks stranded, too deep and the room loses floor. We set it out on the floor with you before anything is cut.

Beam height matters just as much. Set it too low over a stove and the timber scorches, too high and the opening looks like a hole in the wall. There are clearances for both and we work to them.

All of this can be quoted alongside the stove and the flue in one price, with one team on site rather than three trades to co-ordinate.

Questions we get asked.

Can you open up a blocked fireplace?
Yes, that is a regular part of our work, including forming the opening, fitting a lintel and finishing the chamber.
Will an oak beam catch fire?
Not when the clearance is right. We follow the appliance clearances and can fit a heat shield where the opening is tight.
What is Geocast?
A cast product moulded from real timber, so it looks like an oak beam but will not twist, split or scorch.
