Repointed, recapped or rebuilt from the roofline up.

Kent weather is hard on a stack. When the mortar has gone soft, the flaunching has cracked or damp is showing on the bedroom ceiling, the chimney itself needs the attention.

Chimney rebuilds and repairs

01

Repointing and flaunching

Raking out perished mortar and recapping the top of the stack stops water getting in and is a fraction of the cost of a rebuild.

02

Pots, cowls and cages

New pots bedded properly, anti downdraught cowls where the stack is sheltered, and bird guards to keep jackdaws out in spring.

03

Full stack rebuilds

Where the brickwork has failed we take the stack down to a sound course and rebuild it in matching brick with new lead work.

Signs your stack needs work

Damp patches on the chimney breast in the upstairs rooms, mortar dust in the fireplace, pieces of flaunching in the gutter, a pot leaning, or smoke that only misbehaves when the wind is in one direction.

We survey from the roof and give you photographs of what we find, so you can see the problem rather than take our word for it.

Repairs are quoted as one price including access, materials and making good, and we can carry out lining at the same time to save a second visit.

Questions we get asked.

Do you work on listed buildings?
Yes. Kent has a great many, and we work in lime mortar and matching brick where the consent requires it.
Is scaffolding included?
Where a job needs scaffolding it is priced in the quotation, so the figure you see is the figure you pay.
Can you remove a chimney breast?
Breast removal is structural work for a builder with the right engineering. We can advise and take care of the flue side of it.

Speak to a person

Whatever you are planning, start here.

Homeowners, builders, landlords and architects all begin the same way: a conversation. Tell us a little about the room or the project and we will come back with honest advice and one clear price in writing.

  1. 01

    We listen first

Tell us about the room or the project, not the budget. We will ask what it needs to do.

  2. 02

    We come and look

A proper survey, free of charge, with the chimney and ventilation checked before anything is quoted.

  3. 03

    One clear price

Everything in writing, stove to certificate, with nothing added later.
