Log burners fitted into two Kent shepherd huts

Two Salamander Hobbit stoves installed into shepherd huts using our twin wall chimney system, the same approach we use for glamping tents, cabins and workshops.

Small buildings are some of the most satisfying work we do. These two shepherd huts each took a Salamander Hobbit, a cast iron stove small enough for the space but with a genuinely useful output.

Neither hut had a chimney, which is normal for this kind of project. We ran a twin wall insulated system out through the roof, flashed and weathered it, and finished with a cowl suited to a low, exposed stack.

Twin wall is what makes a fire possible in a building that was never designed for one. The inner liner carries the flue gases, the insulation keeps them hot enough to draw properly, and the outer skin stays cool enough to pass safely through timber structures at the clearances the regulations set.

Heat control matters more in a small volume than in a house. A hut warms up in minutes, so we talk owners through running a small stove gently on dry wood rather than loading it and shutting it down.

If you would like information on log burners in glamping tents, shepherd huts, cabins, workshops or garden rooms, get in touch and we will tell you what is possible before anybody quotes.
